Bored at Home but Ready to Learn?

With the arrival of summer, many students have found themselves with a copious amount of free time and nowhere to spend it. However, with the enormous world of the internet right at our fingertips, it is easier than ever to incorporate digital interactive learning into your child's life with one tap of a screen or click of a mouse. Here are just a few of the awesome educational websites that will help your child pass the time while enriching their minds!

Khan Academy ( is a free website where students are able to create an account and work through a variety of courses at their own pace. They have available courses ranging from Electrical Engineering to Storytelling and even Astronomy! The best part of this site is the fact that every course contains supplemental videos and quizzes for students to check their own progress. In addition, every single course is 100% free due to the fact that the site is run by a nonprofit organization. With so many courses available and a bunch of free time on their hands, students will be occupied for hours on this amazing site!

Freerice ( is a free trivia website run by The United Nations World Food Programme. Users can create a free account and answer trivia questions from multiple categories including English, Humanities, Math, and Science. Each correctly answered question donates 10 grains of rice to underdeveloped nations. Though that number might seem small, playing around on the site for just a couple of hours can mean a whole lot of rice donations! This site is awesome to just relax and pass the time all while helping an incredible cause!

Last, but most definitely not least, epic! ( is an awesome site that contains one of the world's largest digital libraries for kids 12 and under. The site has over 40,000 different children's books to choose from and read. All you have to do to access these books is make an account. The first month is free, but after that the subscription is only $7.99/month. Storytime with your child has never been easier or more accessible!

Though the summer months might sometimes be a struggle for parents with children who always need something to do, the internet has so many incredible and educational resources for your child. These sites merely scratch the service of all the awesome online activities out there! Check them out!
